Search Engine Optimization (SEO): A Complete Guide to Improve Website Rankings

New Google Ads help doc outlines corporate email rules

Google has published a new help document detailing stricter email domain requirements for sensitive actions in Google Ads, giving advertisers clearer guidance on how the security change will work.

What’s happening. The document says Google is piloting a requirement that blocks users signed in with free email domains, such as Gmail or Yahoo, from completing sensitive actions.

Those users will still be able to view reports and make routine campaign edits, depending on their permissions, but actions such as changing user access or updating account links will require a corporate email address tied to a private business domain.

What advertisers need to do. Any user who needs to perform sensitive actions should create or use a Google Account linked to a corporate email address and ask an account administrator to grant the appropriate access level.

For accounts with three or more active administrators, adding a new corporate user or changing admin privileges may trigger Multi-Party Approval, requiring another administrator to approve the request. Users switching to a new corporate login will also need to create a new passkey because passkeys are tied to individual Google Accounts.

Why we care. Agencies, freelancers and small businesses that rely on personal Gmail accounts could lose the ability to make critical account changes if their accounts are included in the pilot. Moving key users to corporate email addresses now could prevent access disruptions and approval delays later.

The bottom line. Google is formalizing a stricter divide between routine campaign management and sensitive account administration, with corporate email domains becoming the new gatekeeper for high-risk actions.
